The Learning Environment
We are incredibly lucky with space at Jenyns First School. Our Early Years Classroom is a large open space, with areas that link to each area of development.
The children spend most of their day initiating their own learning through play and exploration. We have at least 2 members of staff at all times who support the children develop their understanding through questioning and encouragement.
Two sets of double doors lead to a wrap around outdoor area which the children can explore all year round. Wellies are part of our school uniform and the children learn to change independently and use the outdoor area as they wish. Our outdoor space is part of the classroom and the children love it. It boasts a forest area, a digging pit, mud kitchen, 2 role play sheds and large construction toys as well as an area for writing, craft and reading. The children think mathematically solving problems at all times.
