Our Children, Our Future.
A warm welcome from Jenyns First School and Nursery. We are pleased that you are interested in finding out more about our wonderful school. We have already held our Open Evening and organised tours for prospective Nursery and Reception parents for pupils starting in September 2023. However, if you would still like to have a tour before the application deadline, please contact the school office.
We look forward to meeting you all.
Please contact the school if you require a school tour.
We currently offer 15 free hours entitlement per week based on five mornings, for those turning four years in the school year.
Session times are: 8:50am - 11:50am (collect at 12:00)
We also have availability to extend these hours to the afternoon, including a lunch break. The extended hours can be supported by the Government '30 hours free child care' or be charged at our current hourly rate of £5.60.
To check if you could be entitled to additional nursery hours please check eligibility with the government website: http://www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare
We aim to provide a service that is flexible to work around your working hours so this does not have to be a five-day week option. However, we do encourage parents to consider the importance of consistency for children to benefit from a fixed routine, a progressive curriculum offer and consistent social experiences with their peers.
Those children staying for 30 hours will stay for the lunch period. Our children are very lucky in that our food provider Herts Catering Limited (HCL) will provide a hot lunch every day for a child attending 30 hours. The cost is £2.33 per day. You can rest assured that your child has had a healthy and nutritious meal. Alternatively, you can provide your child with a packed lunch each day and we will ensure that this is given to them during the 30 minute lunch period.
We will also provide your child with a mid-morning and mid- afternoon snack (fruit) every day, as well as milk or water as required.
Session times for extended hours: 8:50am - 3:20pm
Please do ask Mrs Turner in the office for the latest availability.

Children are normally admitted in September each year from the age of three, the year they are turning four.
Late applications will be processed after the on-time applications. We recognise that some families may move into the area after the application deadline, or other families may not have decided to apply until later in the summer term. We will do our best to accommodate these children in our Nursery if places are available.
If you would like your child to attend our school in any other year group, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
