Nursery Admissions for September 2027
A warm welcome from Jenyns First School and Nursery. We are pleased to offer private tours for prospective Nursery and Reception parents of pupils starting in September 2027. Please contact the school if you would like to book a private tour led by the Headteacher.

Our Nursery
We have one intake for Nursery, in September, and currently offer 15 free hours entitlement per week based on five mornings, for those turning four in the school year.
Session times are:
Mornings only: 8:45am - 11:45am (collect at 11:55)
Stay all day: 8:45 am - 3:20 pm (charge of £7.00 per hour for the afternoon, 12:20 pm -3:20 pm, plus the cost of school lunch if applicable)
The extended hours can be supported by the Government '30 hours free child care' or be charged at our current rate of £7.00 per hour.

We would initially suggest 5 mornings and extending to full days, if preferred, and your child is ready. Children will benefit from a fixed routine, a progressive curriculum and consistent social experiences with their peers.
Those children staying for 30 hours will stay for the lunch period. Our children are very lucky in that our food provider Herts Catering Limited (HCL) will provide a hot lunch every day for a child attending 30 hours. The cost is currently £2.66 per day. You can rest assured that your child has had a healthy and nutritious meal. Alternatively, you can provide your child with a packed lunch each day. We will ensure that this is given to them during the 30 minute lunch period.
We will also provide your child with a mid-morning snack (fruit and water) every day. There is an option to sign your child up for milk if required.

For children born between 1st September 2023 and 31st August 2024 parents can apply online for their child's nursery place from 2nd November 2026 until 15th January 2027.

Children are normally admitted in September each year from the age of three, the year they are turning four.
Late applications will be processed after the on-time applications. We recognise that some families may move into the area after the application deadline, or other families may not have decided to apply until later in the summer term. We will do our best to accommodate these children in our Nursery if places are available.
